Job Title: Co-Pastor (Full Time)

Church: Harrisburg First Church of the Brethren, 219 Hummel St., Harrisburg, PA 17104

Mission statement: We are called to be a Christ-centered multi-cultural community in the inner city, sharing the love, healing, peace, and justice of Christ.

Who Are We?

Harrisburg First Church of the Brethren was opened in 1896 and has ministered continuously from its Hummel Street location in Harrisburg, PA, since 1903. Once a predominantly white and affluent neighborhood, South Allison Hill underwent several decades of white flight and is currently one of the more under-resourced yet racially and culturally diverse communities in our region. The congregation has always taken seriously the Christian responsibility to serve and love our neighbors. However, in the early 90's, a new vision was adopted that challenged the congregation to be more inclusive and diverse. Part of this shift has included not simply serving others but welcoming our neighbors as a part of our spiritual family. In 2000, a separate non-profit organization, bcmPEACE (, was incorporated as the community ministry arm of the congregation. More recently we have become a leading voice in combating white supremacy and pursuing anti-racism in our denomination.
